About the Artist
Having stayed home to raise my children, I came late to my professional arts practice. I am primarily an assemblage artist - whether working in 2D or 3D format - adding, joining and building rather than taking away material to create a form. I like to use waste and redundant materials as much as possible.
My work carries an ecological and spiritual message centered on my experience of the human condition, my connection with the landscape and the natural world around me, as well as the relationships between peoples and things. It is a contemplation of the interconnectedness of all life, an exploration of the idea that nothing exists of and by itself, but only within its relationship to everything else - its natural and social environment; its past, present and future.
Deep ecological awareness recognises the fundamental interdependence of all phenomena and the fact that as individuals and societies we are all embedded in (and ultimately dependent on) the cyclical processes of nature.
If we have deep ecological awareness or experience of being part of the web of life, then we will (as opposed to should) be inclined to care for all living nature.
